Good morning students !
This is our first class using the blog
Welcome to mathematics blog lesson.
General Instructions:
1. For the students who managed to get new notebooks:- Make set A and set B.1st chapter to be done in set A , 2nd chapter in set B, then 3rd chapter in set A and 4th in set B...so on
For the students who were unable to get new notebooks. Reuse the old ones and cover it.
2.Write your Name, class and section on your notebook.
3.On the first page, make the index
4. Write Date and Topic's name.
5. Make a column on the right hand side for Rough work.

Today we will start with the topic : "PLAYING WITH NUMBERS".
Let's Recall the concept of Factors and Multiples about which you studied in class 4 & 5.
Learning Objectives: By the end of this lesson, you will be able to:
1. understand the difference between factors and multiples.
2. learn how to find factors and multiples of a given number.
3. differentiate between odd and even numbers.
What are Factors?

What are Factors?
When a number is said to be a factor of any other second number, then the first number must divide the second number completely without leaving any remainder. In simple words, if a number (dividend) is exactly divisible by any number (divisor), then the divisor is a factor of that dividend. Every number has a common factor that is one and the number itself.
For example, 4 is a factor of 24 i.e. 4 divides 24 exactly giving 6 as quotient and leaving zero as remainder. Alternatively, 6 is also a factor of 24 as it gives 4 as quotient on division. Therefore, 24 has 1, 24, 4, 6 as its factors in addition to 2, 3, 8 and 12 and all these numbers divide 24 exactly leaving no remainder.
What are Multiples?
A multiple of a number is a number that is the product of a given number and some other natural number. Multiples can be observed in a multiplication table. Multiples of some numbers are as follows:
Multiples of 2 are 2,4,6,8,10,12 and so on
Multiples of 3 are 3,6,9,12,15,18 and so on
Multiples of 5 are 5,10,15,20,25,30 and so on
The multiples of any natural number is always an infinite set of numbers.
To understand the concept of Factors n Multiples, let's watch this video:
Let us understand with the help of some examples that how will you write all the factors of a given number.
Example 1: Write all the factors of 36
Solution: 1 × 36 =36
2 × 18
3 × 12
4 × 9
6 × 6
Stop here, because both the factors(6) are same.
Thus, the factors of 36 are 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 9, 12, 18 and 36.
Example 2: Write all the factors of 24.
Solution: 1 × 24 =24
2 × 12
3 × 8
4 × 6
Stop here, because after 4 the next factor is 6 which has occurred already.
Thus, the factors of 24 are 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 12 and 24.
Now, we will focus on Writing multiples of a given number:
Example 1: Write first 5 multiples of 8.
Solution: Here, we are calculating the multiples of 8
8 × 1 =8
8 × 2 = 16
8 × 3 = 24
8 × 4 = 32
8 × 5 = 40
Let us start exercise 3.1 (page no.50)
From Q1- I have already explained part (a) and (i) in examples.
From Q2- I have explained part (b) in examples.
HOMEWORK:
Complete Q1. Part (b) to Part (h).
Complete Q2. Part (a) and Part (c).
Q3. Match the following. (do it in the reader) or copy the question in your notebook and solve.
Q4: Find all the multiples of 9 upto 100. (Hint- the multiples of 9 should not exceed 100)
