BASIC GEOMETRICAL IDEAS

Today, we are going to recap some basic geometrical ideas which you had learnt in your previous classes.

At the end of the class, you will appraise:
* point, line segment, line and ray
* and apply the above in the Exercise 4.1 

 Before you get into the lesson, let us watch a video:

POINT:  
It determines a location. It is usually denoted by a capital letter.

LINE SEGMENT:
It corresponds to the shortest distance between two points.  The line segments joining points A and B is denoted by AB.  
AB and BA denote the same line segment.

A line is obtained when a line segment like AB is extended on both sides indefinitely; It is denoted by AB or sometimes by a single small letter of L.

RAY:
It is a portion of line starting at a point and going in one direction endlessly.

Q1.   Use the given figure to name:


a) Five Points: D, E, O, B and C
b) A line is: BD

2) Name the line given in all posible(twelve) ways, choosing only two letters at a time from the four given:

Ans: Only one line can pass through a two given points
