I HOPE YOU ENJOYED MAKING THE FACTOR TREES AND HAVE UNDERSTOOD EVERYTHING.

It is really important that you become extremely good at prime factorisation. For this you need to check:

Do you know the following?

·      What is a prime number?

·      What is a composite number?

·      What are coprime numbers?

·      Write down the number as a product of its prime numbers.

In the previous post you have learnt prime factorization using the factor tree. Have a look at this video. In this video we will see how to determine the prime factors of a given number using the division method.

You will need to make yourself an expert in short division. For that I hope you know your tables from 1 to 15 at least. 

FIND OUT THE PRIME FACTORS OF THE GIVEN NUMBERS USING THE DIVISION METHOD:
1. 100         2. 625     3. 729

EXERCISE - DO IT YOURSELF [use the division method]

Q.4 Write the greatest 4-digit number and express it in terms of its prime factors.

(hint: the greatest 4-digit number is 9999) Go ahead and solve it.

Q 5 Write the smallest 5-digit number and express it in the form of its prime factors.

[hint the smallest 5-digit number is 10000]

Q 6 Find all the factors of 1729.

Arrange these factors in ascending order. [ smallest factor to the largest factor]

Check and see if there is any relation between two consecutive (that comes one after the other) prime factors.

Q 7 Take any three consecutive numbers. (eg 3,4,5 or 12, 13,14 or 100,101,102 etc)

Multiply the three numbers that you have chosen.

Check if the product is always divisible by 6.

Q 8 The sum of two consecutive odd numbers is divisible by 4.

Eg.3+5=8. Yes their sum 8 is divisible by 4

Now you write 2 examples of your own.

Q 9 To be done in the textbook.

Q 12. I am the smallest number, having four different prime factors. Can you find me? Solve this puzzle.
